Apply For The Home Gardens Program
Are You a Qualified Applicant?
The Home Gardens program currently serves participants meeting low-income requirements in the Portland Oregon Metro area.
To qualify for the Home Gardens program, families must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
We are now accepting applicants in N, NE, SE, Gresham, Milwaukie, or Oregon City areas. But we hope to support additional neighborhoods soon! Even if you live outside of these areas we encourage you to apply by following these four steps.
Step One
Obtain a Home Gardens application in one of the following ways:

Step Two
Fill out and submit your application online or mail it to the Growing Gardens office at:

Your name will be added to our waitlist in the order in which the application was received. Our waitlist is separated regionally in Portland (N, NE, SE), Gresham, Milwaukie, and Oregon City to ensure that we are evenly distributing our program services.
Step Three
Once your name reaches the top of our waitlist our staff will contact you to schedule a site visit and program orientation.
During this visit, we will talk about where you want your garden located, take a soil sample for testing, and bring paperwork for you to complete.
At this point, you will receive a schedule for your garden installation, seasonal classes, and supply distribution dates.
Step Four
Let's build a garden! Your official garden build will take place sometime between the months of June and October.
When the big day arrives, our experienced team of volunteers will arrive at your home to break ground and officially build on your brand-new garden!
Your neighborhood garden adviser will schedule routine visits from here to provide additional resources and answer any questions you may have.
